The Bayelsa State House Committee on Works, led by Chairman Rtd. Col. Bernard Kenibai, visited the 9-storey Bayelsa State Secretariat project in Yenagoa on July 29, 2025.
Hosted by Megastar Technical & Construction Ltd., the visit began with a safety induction before a briefing on the project’s features, including twin office towers, public floors with amenities (gym, clinic, restaurant, ATM gallery), a 1,000-capacity civic concourse, and universal access design.
Megastar reported significant progress with 288 foundation piles completed and 15% of pile caps installed. The company also announced a skills acquisition programme to train 100 Bayelsa youths in construction and project management.
Chairman Kenibai commended Governor Douye Diri, the Ministry of Works, and the Megastar team, stating:
The Secretariat is set to become a landmark of civic pride, government functionality, and community empowerment.
This project represents more than a building; it is a symbol of the new Bayelsa—purpose-driven, inclusive, and forward-looking.”
